NBC Universal Holographic Multitouch Display
This project was installed in the main entrance lobby of NBC Universal’s US headquarters located in New Jersey. The goal was to create a dynamic multi-user experience for executives and guests alike that would allow them to touch and interact with all of NBC Universal’s current properties and brands.
Six projectors power the display as projected bursts of light transition seamlessly into brand logos that a user can touch in order to read a brief bio on the brand or property. A cleverly designed color bar then allows them to further scroll through all 32 brands in order to jump to the next one that piques their interest. The entire display acts as a dynamic 6×1 screensaver when not in use, thus giving the lobby a constant sense of light, movement and technology.
In order to achieve the desired result we utilized our multi-touch overlay technology in order to turn all six of our Vistique HoloFilm transparent holographic projection screens into one multi-touch, multi-user display. As a result up to 6 users can simultaneously interact and explore all of NBC Universal’s brands and properties in a fluid and ultra-dynamic way across the entire glass wall.
We also developed the interactive application’s code and framework and worked closely with NBC Universal’s content development team on optimizing the assets for this unique content experience. In all, up to 32 simultaneous touches are supported.
