Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Jubilee House)
Vislogix was invited by the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for the 2011 season premiere episode featuring Barbara Marshall, a Navy veteran, who is fighting to end homelessness among her fellow female veterans. This formidable woman established The Steps-N-Stages Jubilee House in Fayetteville using her own money. Jubilee House offers shelter, support and services such as mentoring and life coaching to homeless female veterans. Barbara’s life is dedicated to these women… they are her mission, her family, her passion.
The highlights of this episode were First Lady Michelle Obama‘s involvement in the project along with celebrity singer Rihanna.
For our part, we were working on the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR Room), where we created a large 8′ x 12′ Interactive Floor along with a 90″ Interactive Wall utilizing our Respondr Reactive System. Several custom applications were created for these two interactive experiences and what was most cool about it all was the fact the room was designed for actual transformation. Several movable walls formed a 9 computer cubicle cluster where female veterans staying at the Jubilee House can learn skills, apply for work, etc. Then when the walls open up, they reveal the massive interactive play area which also doubles as a movie room for watching flicks on the big screen. Check out the short slideshow below along with the exclusive ‘behind-the-scenes’ footage shot by Extreme Makeover’s Johnny Littlefield specifically focusing on us and the technology.
